By changing the timings of my computers main memory from some arbitrary high setting (probably 6-5-5-16) to 4-4-4-12, the speed of my PC skyrocketed … I can play Vanguard on the highest settings and it’s steadily ~35-40 fps unless there’s a bunch of crap to load or I’m facing trees; before I was only able to play on mid-high settings and got < 30fps. I tried this before but got freaked when a virus screwed up a bunch of programs. Turns out I let my guard down and took my roommate’s word for it …
…I guess the moral of the story is, optimizing your computer’s main memory can result in a SIGNIFICANT boost in performance, and computer viruses suck.
